Here is how to get that authentic, lip smacking BBQ flavor into your next deep fried adventure!
You will need:
- Sliced Food: Onion, Zucchini, Mushrooms, Pickles, calamari, chicken tenders, etc
- Hint: DO NOT USE TOFU (out of principle)
- Batter: In a bowl, crack an egg, add 1 tablespoon of milk and whisk together.
Here is the Real BBQ Dude secret…
- Seasoned Flour: Pour 1 cup of flour and 4 tablespoons of your favorite BBQ Rub.
Next:
1. Place your veggies in the batter and mix them around to ensure the batter covers every inch
2. Place veggies in the seasoned flour and also covers every inch
3. Please veggies in a deep fryer at 350 degrees
4. Remove when golden brown
5. Place on plate with paper towels at bottom
6. Sprinkle salt on veggies while still piping hot
Recipe hacks:
- Save time and get pre-packaged fried food from the grocery store and sprinkle your favorite BBQ rub on them after cooking instead of salt.
- Use your favorite BBQ Sauce as your dipping sauce!
- You may need to double, triple (or more) your batter and seasoned flour
- If you like more breading start with an extra coating of seasoned flour before dipping in batter
- Use an air fryer for a more healthy option
